I have a new habit of listening to a positive Podcast whilst making and preparing breakfast each morning. I have just listened to an amazing 3 min Ted Talk podcast by Richard St John on the Secrets of Success in 8 words.
The Youtube version has some great and funny slides as well, it is well worth the 3 minutes of your life to watch it!
I particularly loved his truthful but humorous PERSIST Slide (taken as Screenshot from his Youtube video so it is his copyright).
This new podcasting habit is one I have acquired since Lent when I gave up sugar, alcohol, fiction books and men that are bad for me, worringly this meant I accidentally gave up men so that was one I slipped a bit on ;-). Don’t get me wrong, its not men who are bad, just I seem to choose ones who don’t really fit with my newly focused lifestyle, lovely as they are.
I am actually a Buddhist but my dad is a Catholic and my mum a Protestant, but we all give up things we like for Lent, it is a family tradition. My sister however all thinks we are mad giving up chocolate for 7 plus weeks 😉
13 minute task of the day
What can you practise today for 13 minutes so you are GOOD and ready when the opportunity comes ?
Set Your Timer for 13 min
Practise! Do vocal or instrument scales, work on a bit of painting technique, spend 13 minutes learning 3 new words, do that basic technique you know you have not quite mastered as you have rushed ahead to get good fast – be it posture on a pirouette, practising a blue scales against a fast metronome, working out that awkward bit of Photoshop or Logic Software that you never really got.
When the timer buzzes stop and think about how you feel. I bet you feel more positive, centred and calm for the time spent.
Repeat as necessary 😉
Do you have any new positive habits you started through Lent or since the New Year? Comments are welcome 😉
