Part 4 of Dream, create and make money in the arts.
As per Parts 2 and 3, we need an event to focus our efforts so its worth taking the time to find something that inspires you.
Is there an important day you could hang your event on or that you can use for inspiration?
Some suggestions to get you thinking
Jazz in the local pub to celebrate Billie Holiday’s birthday
Book reading of your new work, and maybe others too on Shakepeare’s, Henry Moore’s or Wordsworth’s birthday in your Local library, park or shopping centre.
A series of paintings and a few drinks inspired by David (Hockney, Attenborough or Bowie)
Art inspired by and exhibited on the birth of the Beatles, death of the Industrial Revolution, or the opening of the first Superstore in your community.
Your great grandfather was a local green grocer or poet, could you do a short story telling based on his diaries on the day of his birth or death? Play his favourite bit of Wagner and read his favourite poem?
Was someone famous such as a poet or an inventor born in your local area? Hold a special gig or showing on the date of their invention or most famous work being published
Can you come up with a creative response to current events or anniversaries of deaths through your own art form eg
“10 songs Margaret Thatcher would hate.”
‘A Collection of clothes Piaf would love’
“The CD cover Beethoven would have had'”
As always write down ideas and get the creative juices flowing.
About this series – Being a Successful Creative – The Business of Creativity
This is a series of daily blogs for you on how to dream up, build, market and sell a creative event, gig, festival, book launch, cabaret night, exhibition of rude plastic cupcakes or whatever creatively inspires you. It is time to create and put on that play about your family, a series of drawings about hedgehogs, the album you have talked about making or the short film you always wanted to write and make.
