Yeah to me and all the other NaNoWriMo-ers out there. I didn’t have a plan, just a little idea for a novel but I aimed at that 1667 words per day and left a dinner party early so I could finish the 50k target by Nov 30th đ Deadlines always work.Â
I have not finished the novel yet, just hit my NaNoWriMo target of 50k in 30 days. I will continue to write 1700-2000 words a day til I do get through this first draft, but the continued knowledge that I had challenged myself and I would NOT let myself down has kept me going. Also In November I edited my Second Nanowrimo book that I wrote in 2009 and have sent it off to a thriller competition with a 2 page synopsis. It was hard tackling two books a day and I have no idea if this one is any good. But the wonder of seeing how storylines, plot lines, characters turned up and did mysterious things meant every day was a revelation. Some days were much harder to write than others, some scenes going in I thought yuck but kept going.
I have just validated my novel count and I got winner’s badges and a video of lots of Nanowrimo-ers (I guess the team at the office) cheering at me which was cute.
So I am posting this and then off to bed. However I know can say I have written THREE novels and in the new year I am going to hit SEND as Jason Hewitt the novelist with a monster book deal said to me in our podcast interview (podcast interview here)
