There is a great quote by Leonardo Da Vinci ‘Art is never finished, only abandoned’.

So given what we create is never perfect, then let us feel free to let our art/song/novel fly free 😉 He says his goal in 2013 is… I’m going to release at least 23 new pieces of music in 2013.

The important word here is RELEASE. It isn’t ‘write and hide in a drawer’, ‘write a chorus and wait til your muse tells you about the verse’, its about writing, recording and finishing.

So I want to encourage everyone to join John’s Challenge.

Whether that means you choose to paint 23 new works of art and show them, craft 23 new statues or poems, whether it is songs, bookmarks (a la Seth Godin Bookmark and instructions from the Icarus Deception), perform 23 new dances, write 23 5 min films for Youtube, make 23 new cake decorations and pop them on Pinterest, wherever your muse takes you is fine. Pls if you want to mix up the 23 so 3 cakes, 5 songs, 10 poems and 5 paintings thats fine too, just make sure they all get released!

I wrote a post recently on Adding wonder to your community with a 13 min task of the day,

but John Anealio’s Challenge is making you create a number of specific finished pieces so I think it’s great.

I wrote out of the blue a little daft song on Thursday as a replacement for writing an essay and I did post it where others can hear. I had not picked up the ukelele in 3 years, I tuned it, wrote some words down and just recorded it live.. and then without editing it I posted it. Once I have worked out how to set up a Podcast Channel and RSS feed then I will release it there. Because you just have to let art breathe, and this indeed is the very point of my blog.

In fact I am going to be brave and attach it here as an MP3, though I will do a podcast about the background as its a bit weird without the backstory – it was for a Fitness Challenge essay, instead of talking about my new fitness regime I sang about it.

Marysia Trembecka’s LYC BFFM Love Song

Also I have just joined Vine and took this 6 second Vine video outside Harrods yesterday: truly great creative window display with three of London’s monuments and London buses moving on conveyor belts carrying Dior handbags and shoes.
