Last Friday I found myself putting on makeup at 10pm, not as normally to go out clubbing or late drinks (this is what nearly 2 decades of living in Soho London does to you!) but to get ready for a midnight interview and chat. Scott McMahon of Film Marketing Fridays was amazing at answering my questions on marketing my Songs Of Soho webseries.
Anyone looking to market a short, a feature or indeed anything should check out his http://filmtrooper.com/itunes and videos as he gave me some really great transferable advice.
I got a lot of takeaways from it but highlights were for me
– Understanding that my throw away Songs Of Cannes was probably his favourite thing I have done as The Singing Psychic, he had never felt so there in all the footage he had ever seen on the Cannes film festival. So the liveness and the fact my DOP had gone awol turned out to be a positive š
-I can also market it as a unique travel blog as he loved learning and seeing Soho and Cannes from a real ‘boots on the ground’ aspect. He had never visited London and loved knowing the background behind the buildings such as this
– how it could really work for tourists especially Americans.
-To take my selfie stick and afro wig everywhere I go
– To start reusing my @singpsychic twitter handle to tweet stuff out (I had stopped using it as my @MarysiaT twitter has over 12k followers. I have now started doing a daily song reading (you can find this on my Singing psychic twitter and Facebook pages http://www.singingpsychic.tv
