I was responding to a friend saying she cant shift much weight this week although she has been training hard and watching her nutrition closely and I had this GENIUS theory.
Our bodies don’t really want to give up the fat…. fat is like bad boyfriends you kinda want to hang on to cos its just easier…. and just like bad boyfriends they (the fat cells) view your initial feeble attempts to dislodge them with amusement and don’t really listen….. It sometimes takes weeks of saying no (cos lets face it we get bored and let them pop back in for benefits and amusement sake)… but if you keep saying no, no, no, no i wont take his call, no I am not free, No you cant pick up X (have you noticed they seem to deliberately always leave something at yours so they have an excuse to return) .. Wow this turning into a diatribe.. but anyway eventually they will let go but it takes a massive effort that is consistent and continuous to do so..
So soon with continuous and focused effort your fat will run off, but it will hang in there for dear life, until it has no choice but to leave.. .. and then you get to the next layer of stubborn fat and you start again 😉
So remind yourself FAT IS LIKE YOUR EX – YOU HAVE TO TRY REALLY HARD FOR AGES TO GET RID OF HIM!
What has this got to do with creativity I hear you ask? Well it is me going creatively off topic…. 😉
However also it is worth reminding yourself that habits are hard to break once learned, and to replace them with positive habits takes focus and time.
Be the juggernaut that is relentless 😉 There is so much talk on us needing the 10,000 hours to become an expert, and the best way to do it is daily imprint it in to your muscles, mind and neural highways.
13 minute task of the day
* Set your timer to go!
*Write down what one habit you want that if you could put it into your daily routine you know it would be great for you and moving your creativity forward. It could be a daily walk or run, eating a proper breakfast, practising every day (that’s my next one to tackle), writing even for 13 minutes every day on your novel, daily editing your script, writing one cover letter and CV each day.
*Make a promise that for the next week you will ensure you spend 13 times minutes every day doing this one task.
I can hear you cry, “but that’s a waste of time, I need to spend hours crafting my great American novel, practising that Bach, writing the next show….’ Stop it – we all could do with doing more, but lets start today with 13 minutes a day for 7 whole days. No matter what spend those 13 minutes.
*They say a habit takes 21 days to settle in, but if you can I would aim for 7 weeks of those 13 minutes a day and stop after the 13 minutes. My 7 weeks to change my life blog post I am currently living so will be posting that soon 😉
I find it easier to put a positive new habit in place to replace the negative habit, so I give up sugar and take up exercise on a daily basis to get me out of my sugar high existence.
