The more I create the more opportunities seem to come to me. Plus because I am being creative every day, I am far more relaxed about auditioning, talking to people and indeed creative about what might be a possibility for me in life. I network naturally as I can talk (and not grimace) about my current projects.
Compare this to the alternative, where I have been so many times myself; you don’t make your art, you complain nothing is going on, you get depressed that no one understands your work, and you have to waitress to eat, you become even more insular and negative.
Just this week I have
-played the lead in a fabulous short ‘The List, in fact I am writing this having just staggered home from a wonderful but long two days on set. Playing a serial dater I had to have 5 dates with 5 different men one after the other, I am exhausted from too much charm 😉 This is the 3rd short I have done in as many weeks.
-Baked a Marysia oatcake at 7am this morning (a Sunday) and then did a mini VINE video of eating a bit of it, before heading out to the film set

-asked to do some pop up theatre for next week.
-Asked if I would mind being given a megaphone and then wander around singing various solo songs as a pied piper of music at the Royal festival Hall & the Southbank.
-Had a voiceover confirmed having forwarded voice samples for 15 in the last 2 weeks.
I also wrote 2 blog posts, made a VINE of the birds singing near my parents and helped them declutter their garage and pop their stuff on Gumtree – this sounds selfless but I have to admit I am planning to pop some storage in their garage next week… They sold 4 things already!!

I say this not to brag but because it is purely proof that work begets work. So below are various competitions you can enter creative work – from photos, to pictures, films, animation, art and scripts.
So take a look and consider entering one even if you think there is no way in hell you will get approved. The act of finishing a piece and sending it out the door holds untold power.
13 minute task of the day.
Set your timer.
Go for a walk outside
Go looking with your sharp creative ‘eye’ as to what you respond to.
Find an object or frame that holds your interest.
Take a pic and then go home (or find a park bench) and think what you could create in your own medium (song/dance/play/story/sculpture/artwork) as a response to this.
Tomorrow set your timer and start creating… every day this week 13 minutes a day on this.
When the timer stops each time you can stop, dont feel you have to carry on.
Some competitions below.
